Tongue Cleaning Instructions

The tongue cleaner is an effective and integral remedy for anyone looking to eliminate bad breath.

This article will serve as a step by step guide when it comes to tongue cleaning.   I’ve owned numerous tongue cleaners for a number of years now, and I spent my first year with one using it in a way that didn’t give me the full benefits of tongue cleaning.

Lucky for you, you can learn from my mistakes.  This is a quick how to guide that will serve to help you understand the best way to use a tongue cleaner.

1.  Make sure you reach the back of your tongue.  The back of your tongue is actually the source of the strongest bad breath bacteria.  Why?  Because you hardly reach the back of your tongue, and there’s a good chance these bacteria have been living there for a while.  The longer they’re there, the worse they’ll generally smell.  The good news is that the right tongue cleaner can make it easy to reach the back of your mouth without feeling like you have to gag.

2.  When tongue cleaning, scrape the bacteria off of the surface of your tongue and bring it to the front.  I emphasize the word gently.  It’s really important that you don’t do this too quickly or too aggressively.  The last thing you want to do is to irritate your tongue’s soft tissue.  Doing this can put you into a situation where your taste buds are damaged and your tongue feels rough.

3.  Make sure to rinse your tongue cleaner (preferably in warm water) after each scrape.  You’ll want to do a total of about 3-4 scrapes each time you do your tongue cleaning, and it’s important that you rinse in between scrapes.  Not rinsing basically means that the very bacteria you removed will touch the surface of your tongue once again.  Not only will this taste bad, but some of them will end up right where they started.

Follow these bits of advice when tongue cleaning and you’ll have a much easier time.  Trust me on this, you won’t regret it.  Good luck to you and enjoy.
