Tongue Cleaner – Why You Should Use One
The tongue cleaner is an effective and integral remedy for anyone looking to eliminate bad breath.
We’ve gone our whole lives brushing our teeth, but few people use a tongue scraper. The average person brushes his or her teeth twice daily, and some do it even more. We do this to protect our teeth from cavities, and to keep our mouths and gums healthy.
The minty taste of toothpaste is intended to cover up bad breath, but sometimes it simply isn’t enough. Mouthwashes help, as do mints and gum. Flossing certainly helps too, but the most effective simple thing you can do on a daily basis to remove bad breath at the source is to regularly use a tongue cleaner.
What is a tongue cleaner and how does it work? Well, it’s basically a simple device like one of the pictures at the top of the page that allows you to gently remove the bacteria from the back of your tongue.
You may or may not know this, but bad breath bacteria actually live deep within the ridges of your tongue. They end up smelling bad because these bacteria, which are buried within the ridges of your tongue, have a hard time getting oxygen. The fact that they don’t get oxygen ends up giving them very weird smells, which is the primary cause of bad breath.
There are other causes of bad breath like getting food stuck within your teeth (this can be solved with flossing), but a tongue cleaner can easily help you to remove bad breath bacteria right from the source. By using a tongue cleaner once or twice daily (I do it twice, but how often you choose to do it is up to you), you can easily rid your tongue of a good portion of the bad breath bacteria that live within it.
Using a tongue cleaner is singlehandedly the best piece of advice I can give you if you’re looking to handle your bad breath. Sure, there are expensive bad breath kits out there and many of them do a good job, but even if you were using those, I would still say that it’s necessary to use a tongue cleaner.
The tongue cleaner is as important to my dental regime as brushing my teeth is. If I don’t use it, I know that something’s wrong and I know that my breath won’t be the same.
With that said, I would absolutely recommend the use of a tongue cleaner on a daily basis. Go out and buy one if you haven’t yet; they’re really cheap, and you can find some great deals on them all over the web.
